Volunteers Needed – Tuesday Lunch Bunch

Tuesday Lunch Bunch is back from 13th May at The Christian Community Hub.

Held on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month, this lunch is all about sharing God’s love with our community and building social connections.

We offer a simple meal and a warm, welcoming space for people to meet, connect, and enjoy each other’s company.

We would love your help.

Volunteers are always needed to set up, serve food and chat and connect with guests.

Donations of easy-to-serve meals like soup or casseroles are also greatly appreciated.

This is a question we hear often, so here’s a quick look at what we’re all about.

The Christian Community Hub is a not-for-profit organisation, supported in part by the Bethany, Tabor, Grace and Schoenborn congregations, and also through dedicated fundraising efforts by our committee and volunteers who generously donate from their home gardens.

With our great location on the main street of Tanunda you could say we’re the “face of the church” during the week.

Our staff and volunteers are here to -

- Support our congregations

- Help with local mission projects

- Connect with the wider community.

A big part of what we do is provide Admin support for our local churches. This includes -

- Creation of Service PowerPoints and media packs for congregations, liaising with guest Pastors, Lay Readers and Musicians

- Production and distribution of the SBLC Newsletter both electronically and hard copy

- Funeral order of service, life story PowerPoints, liaison with Funeral Directors

- Photocopying, printing and laminating

- Booking Hub meeting spaces

- Helping with Working with Children Checks and Aged Care Clearances

- Provide admin support to major events like Funday Sunday.

And we are blessed to have the GOod Seed under our roof, offering people a great selection of Bibles, Christian books, cards and gifts.

We are proud to partner with wonderful organisations like Lutheran Care and the Barossa Food Security Network to provide emergency food relief and practical support for those who need it most.

Our Tuesday Lunch Bunch, held on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month, offers a free lunch and a friendly chat, for anyone hungry for food or social connections.

We also provide meeting spaces for counsellors and support groups, including Carers SA and MyTime, creating a safe and welcoming environment for those seeking extra support.

And then there are the special moments like flipping pancakes on Shrove Tuesday, handing out free Hot Cross Buns and coffee on Maundy Thursday, or spreading Christmas cheer with a seasonal giveaway (thanks to generous support from an LCA Missions Grant).

These are just a few of the ways we connect with our community and share God’s love with a friendly smile, a thoughtful tract, and a list of SBLC service times.
