Ascension Day Service

Hi friends!

A combined SBLC Ascension Day service, with Holy Communion, will be held this evening, Thursday May 29th, at 7:30 p.m. at Grace St Paul’s.

Nearly any Christian can tell you why we celebrate Christmas and Easter.

But what about the Ascension of our Lord, forty days after Easter - May 29th this year?

Why is Ascension also important to celebrate?

- By his ascension, he was providing us with a valuable lesson — everything he came to do was complete.

- With Christians all around the world we can celebrate the Lord’s Supper until he comes again.

- With his ascension the promise to send the Holy Spirit could be fulfilled.

- We now have Christ himself interceding on our behalf before God.

- When Christ ascended, he promised that he would return someday. Now we can live each day looking forward to his return.

- Christ returned to heaven to prepare a place for us

There is great value in realizing the impact of events such as the Ascension, and how they shape our lives and define our faith.
